I appreciate your comment. There are trans people in poor global south populations too and they face plenty of marginalization. The problem isn't that there's too much attention on trans issues, the problem is that they have been ignored and erased for so long by the white supremacist patriarchy that rules the world that a lot of education and attention needs to be paid to reduce the massive violence they face from everyone. Many trans children die by suicide because they're told they shouldn't exist and that sends them into such a depression that they don't want to live. Many trans children and people are killed by someone who figures out they're trans. Many trans children and adults are raped because of their trans identities. Many trans people are so terrified by the way trans people are treated that they never reveal who they truly are. That's why some people think that trans people are only less than 1% of the population. In India since ancient times we had entire jatis of trans people who were respected and honored and had important roles in our society. Other Indigenous civilizations had similar situations for their trans people. Trans people in many cultures were considered to be spiritual teachers. What changed that was the colonizers who destroyed the Indigenous value system and imposed their own Abrahamic supremacist rape culture patriarchy and sought to destroy anyone who didn't fit into their gender binary. So we can't forget this. We can prioritize both marginalized identities - trans and oppressed non western population, especially when there are trans people in oppressed non western populations too. It's not an either or situation. It's about remembering those most oppressed everywhere and showing up to help by directly identifying the problem - white supremacist abrahamic supremacist patriarchy.
